Results from the Hargrave Blind Draw Dart Tournament
Thanks to everyone who showed up at Week 1 of our 1st Annual Toronto Darts Blind Draw Pub Crawl.
We had 16 players in all show before the 7:15 cutoff, and all the paperwork and team assignments were done by 7:30. The finals were completed before 11:00, with half the field ending up in playoffs with at least their buy-in given back. Chris Wood, owner of the Hargrave, proved his commitment to local darts by hosting this event for us and by matching most of the pot. Kudos to Chris for that and for the wings, pizza and fries he provided as finger food for the group. Good job, Chris! All in all, it was good fun and some great darts overall. The theme of the evening, though, were surprises: Peter M., who didn't buy into the high score or high finish, hit both with a 180 score and 121 out. Both would have been winners for the night had he been in. Second highest score was 160 by Dave P. with a misdirected 20 throw that landed in the doubles bed. We were ready to hand him the cash until we realized he didn't buy in, either! The high score ended up dropping down to a 5-way playoff off at 140 and players threw 9 darts at the board with the highest accumulated score taking the money. Ted M. took it with 259 points. The high finish went to Jaimie D. with his 69 out. The results are: 
First Place: John M. & Dobie S. In addition to the stakes, $60 for first, $30 for second, and $15 each for the 3rd and 4th place team, we had a few prizes to go around by drawing names at random. Charles Menezes from Specialty Sports Supplies turned up with some gifts in hand for the darters that we gave our by random draw: Bob F. won a windbreaker, Jim. Y. won a handsome dart shirt, Ted M. won free entry to our next event and John M. received a cool Toronto Darts toque! Thanks to the 16 people who turned up and we hope you keep coming out to have some Thursday fun and adding up your points. More than half the darters ended up with their money back or a take-home prize. That's cool, and we were happy just to do it.
