Dart News & Information
Want to play darts against others in an informal and fun environment? This is the place!

Formerly held at the now-closed Lazy Lizard Bar & Grill, the Friday night blind draw doubles dart tournament is now being hosted by another dart bar in the Yonge and Davisville area. Operated by local dart organiser Nina Corcoran, this event has become a staple in the Toronto darting community and has been going strong in the area for several years.

Here is a quick rundown of what you can expect:

  • The tournament is open to males and females of legal drinking age in the province of Ontario.
  • All skill levels are welcome and are encouraged to attend. Seriously. Don't think that you're not good enough to play. It doesn't matter.
  • Registration begins at 7:00pm and ends promptly at 7:30pm. Play begins at 8:00pm.
  • Cost is $10.00 per player, with an option to add $1.00 each for the evening's high scores and high outs.
  • Names are drawn at random for partners and weaker players are often partnered with stronger players. Everyone has a chance to compete!
  • Depending on attendance, teams are usually placed (randomly) into groups. Each team will play everyone else in their own group. This is known as the "Round Robin" portion of the evening. The top two teams from each group then enter into a playoff against the top two teams from the other groups.
  • The payout consists of the entry fees, plus a matched portion from the owners of Kramer's Bar & Grill, and are awarded to the top teams. The number of winning teams is determined each night and depends on the number of players who show.
  • Round-robin play typically ends just past 10:00pm. Playoffs end closer to 11:00pm.

Equipment:

You don't have to bring much with you, but you do need a set of darts. Please visit our Toronto darts and dart supplies page for a listing of stores available in the area and, if you are buying a set of darts for the very first time, we recommend throwing with various different darts to determine if the weight and feel each set has is right for you. A safe weight to begin with would be around 24 grams.

Other things to keep in mind:

  • You may want to arrive a little earlier than 7:00 if you want to practice before play begins.
  • Chalking games for others is always helpful and very much appreciated
  • Be ready to play when your name is called so that the games end as quickly as possible.
  • Try to take bathroom and other breaks well before you are scheduled to play.
  • Always ask other players questions if you are unsure about something - they're happy to help.

We routinely hear people commenting on how rare it is to enjoy a night out in Toronto for $10.00, so if you're looking for something new to try or just want to meet some different people, come on out!
